Our Second Annual Bottle & Can Drive Is Here!
One of the questions we hear all the time is, "How can I help?"
Honestly? Save your bottles and cans.
Our second annual Bottle & Can Drive is officially underway, and every redeemable container helps us continue rescuing stray and abandoned cats throughout western Connecticut.
Why we're fundraising
Animal rescue is unpredictable. One phone call can turn into thousands of dollars in veterinary care overnight.
Right now, we're working to pay off more than $3,400 in veterinary bills while continuing to respond to new calls for help.
Some of the cats your bottles will help support include:
Zorro, a young stray found with severe infected wounds and ongoing medical complications.
Bingo, who required extensive veterinary treatment for a GI obstruction.
Matilda, who recently underwent eye removal surgery.
Sandwich, who is about to undergo an extensive dental procedure.
On top of that, we took in five new cats last week alone.
The reality is simple: until we catch up on our veterinary bills, it becomes harder to say "yes" to the next cat that needs us.
Last year's results
Last year, our community came together and raised nearly $200 just from redeeming bottles and cans.
It may not sound like a huge number, but every dollar paid for food, medications, and veterinary care that directly helped cats in need.
This year we'd love to double that and we know we can with your help.
So, how you can help?
Saving your redeemable bottles and cans is one of the easiest ways to support local animal rescue.

Why bottle drives matter
Unlike large national organizations, local rescues rely on community support to keep going.
Every redemption helps pay for:
Emergency veterinary care
Spays and neuters
Vaccinations
Medications
Food and litter
Medical supplies
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts
Your empty cans become antibiotics.
Your bottles become surgeries.
Your recycling becomes second chances.
Thank you for supporting Despurate House Cats and helping us continue saying "yes" when the next stray needs us.
We couldn't do this without you.
